Lillian Bush Memorial

Today, the church is still a central part of the Juneteenth Celebration because worship is a grateful expression of freedom and the first reaction when the prayers of many generations were answered. In remembrance of the first freed man’s church service, we established the Lillian Bush Memorial Twentieth Ecumenical Service, to honor the lives of all people no matter their race or denomination, who gave their lives for the cause of liberty. This service is a celebration of community, togetherness, and love for each other in support of freedom and education about our rights. We ask that everyone, regardless of denomination, participate and support this all-faith service, and get the message of Juneteenth in the spirit of community from several faith-based leaders. Mark your calendars for a faith celebration for our latest Juneteenth celebration with Dr. Opal Lee and other faithful community leaders. We can’t wait to worship with you!
